2023 Overview CONNY BOYS Officials Assignments Policy
CONNY requires that the home team must provide:
-
Two certified (patched) officials (US Lacrosse; Connecticut, New York, or Massachusetts high school; or USILA) at each CONNY 14U (senior) and 12U (junior) level game.
-
Lightning (10U) and below games will be 8v8 small field games. It is suggested that one certified official is at the 10U level, or two junior officials.
-
CONNY urges, but does not require, use of certified or CONNY-recognized officials for 8U and younger (Bantam) games.
Junior Officials: CONNY Boys Rules of Play permit high school students aged 16 and older to serve as officials provided they (1) complete a US Lacrosse or CONNY-approved apprentice officials clinic, (2) pass the 2023 USALacrosse Boys Online Rules Test, and (3) are properly equipped. Such Junior Officials may officiate 10U and 8U games, and may also serve as officials for CONNY 14U or 12U games, especially as a third official, so long as they work with certified adult officials. Under no circumstances will high school students under age 18 be the only officials working a CONNY 14U or 12U game. CONNY member programs served by lacrosse officials assignors other than WCLOA, or which obtain officials some other way, often utilize such Junior Officials.
However, WCLOA rules and procedures do not allow its members to work in conjunction with Junior Officials at any level of play. Thus, for programs served by WCLOA, Junior Officials will be assigned by each town's coordinator of officials, not the WCLOA, and cannot work with WCLOA officials in any capacity.
Schedulers:
I assign games one week ahead of the current date. For example If today is 3/17 I am assigning officials to games being played on 3/27. If there is a change to a game 7 days or less to the scheduled date of play. I MUST BE NOTIFIED BY TEXT OR EMAIl. Checking the box that says "notify officials, notifies no one! You run the risk of losing officials. Officials do not travel with game changes. Your changed game goes to the bottom of the que games and is reassigned. If a game change is made to a game 07 or more days just make the change. Having access to The Arbiter ( my assigning program) is very helpful i0n scheduling.
WCLOA certified officials (patched) fee:
GAME OFFICIALS
-
$75 / per official/ per game for all levels of play. 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U.
-
Tournaments and Jamborees Fees $75 assignor fee per event. Official rates are $70/hour per official. (Officials for the CONNY Tournaments are handled differently)
ASSIGNING FEES
assigning fees are determined by the following formula
TOWN FEE $75 plus $75 for each team that officials are assigned to. For example
Hometown USA has 9 teams and no Jamborees or tournaments. So a town fee of $75 plus $75 for each team would total $750 for the year.
Invoices will be mailed by 4/15/23 for a 5/15/ due date.
Old Business
Some programs that the WCLOA assigned officials to are delinquent in paying assigning fees for the 2022 season. The WCLOA understands that the volunteers of CONNY town are busy and may miss things, however with the 2023 season fast approaching, we would like to clear this up. The WCLOA BOD has decided to withhold the assigning of officials to towns that are not fully paid by 4/1. If you are unsure if your town is delinquent and would like to figure a solution out contact me and we can figure it out.
